The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), has announced the completion of its training program for government employees on cloud computing technologies, in which over 800 government employees have been trained from 75 governmental and semi-governmental entities.

This program is part of the institutional agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain and Microsoft, a global leader in cloud technology. This program, which lasted for three years (2022 to 2024), is part of the iGA’s ongoing efforts to support digital transformation in the Kingdom and enhance government employees’ capabilities with the latest technological developments, to provide a more efficient and flexible work environment in line with the Government directives. to continuously improve government performance, foster innovation, and enhance institutional excellence, as well as further develop and reinforce the national workforce's skills in technology.

It also reflects its commitment to developing the skills of government employees and enhancing their expertise in cloud computing, which is one of the fundamental pillars supporting the improvement of government performance. This commitment embodies the government's ongoing dedication to developing national competencies and preparing them to keep up with the latest technological advancements, significantly contributing to improving government services and achieving the satisfaction of citizens and residents.

As far as the program's outcomes concerned, Dr. Al-Mutawa highlighted that the program focused on training ICT related employees in the government and semi-government sectors on cloud computing technologies, enabling them to use these solutions in line with government digital transformation strategies. The program enhanced their ability to handle vast amounts of data quickly and efficiently, among other aspects covered by the program. This has contributed to providing innovative and effective government services. He emphasized that iGA continues to provide support and continuous development for government employees, which helps enhance the Kingdom's competitiveness locally and internationally in the field of digital transformation.

In this context, he praised the ongoing partnership with leading technology companies to support the government in implementing digital transformation strategies. This has been demonstrated through the cooperation with Microsoft, which has played a key role in providing the technical expertise and knowledge needed to enable government employees to use cloud computing tools in their daily tasks. Additionally, Microsoft delivered a series of training sessions via the Microsoft Teams platform, creating a flexible and interactive training and educational environment for participants, with practical activities conducted remotely.

For his part, Sheikh Saif bin Hilal Al-Hosani, General Manager of Microsoft Bahrain and Oman, stated: "Through the training program, we aim to support the efforts of digital transformation in the Kingdom of Bahrain by equipping government employees with the knowledge and tools necessary to leverage the potential of cloud computing. We are proud of our partnership with the iGA, which represents a successful model of cooperation between the public and private sectors to achieve the strategic objectives of digital transformation."

The training focused on learning how to use cloud computing technologies to improve the performance of government services, such as accelerating decision-making processes and facilitating secure and efficient access to data. Employees were also trained to use these solutions for data processing and storage in the cloud, which helps reduce costs associated with ICT infrastructure. This enables government employees to access data and applications anytime and anywhere while allowing government entities to track and document data and information in a secure cloud environment.

It is worth noting that this program is part of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s policy to adopt cloud solutions, which began in 2017 with the adoption of the "Cloud-First" policy at the government level, in line with the directives of the government, through investing in IT technology via cloud computing to improve the efficiency of government resource use and foster innovation in providing public services. This has been made possible through several features provided by the national cloud, such as instant access to data and resources, speeding up decision-making processes, and improving the level of services provided to citizens.
