Italian Republic Granted Sovereignty Over Data in Bahrain-based Cloud Computing Centers

Mr. Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of the Information & eGovernment Authority, affirmed the strength of bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Italian Republic various fields. He highlighted the Kingdom's keenness to open broader avenues of cooperation and coordination between the two countries to achieve common goals and enhance the exchange of expertise across all fields.

This came on the sidelines of the official visit of Her Excellency Giorgia Meloni, the Prime Minister of the Italian Republic, to the Kingdom of Bahrain, during which Italian Republic was granted sovereignty over its data hosted in the Kingdom’s Cloud Computing data centers.

Al Qaed pointed out that granting sovereignty to the Italian Republic over its subscribers’ data in the Kingdom of Bahrain’s cloud computing centers aligns with the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Law No. (56) of 2018 concerning the provision of cloud computing services to foreign parties, as well as the related ministerial decisions. He also emphasized that this move is part of enhancing the ongoing cooperation between the two countries in digital transformation and expertise exchange.

AlQaed also highlighted the commitment of the two countries to strengthen joint coordination and move forward in developing bilateral relations to achieve common goals. He affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain's dedication to enhancing the exchange of expertise and experiences in the ICT sectors, which contributes to the development of the digital economy infrastructure and supports the Kingdom's progress and development efforts.
