IT projects and purchases valued at approximately BD 2.5 million discussed at 71st ICT Governance Committee meeting

Strategic procurement requests valued at BD2.5 million were discussed at the 71st Information and Communication Technology Governance Committee’s (ICTGC) meeting, chaired by the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive, Mohammed Ali Al Qaed.

Al Qaed thanked the attendees for their efforts and contributions. The meeting reviewed the progress of the first phase of the Building Information Modeling (BIM) project, which aims to build a roadmap for 3D BIM adoption in the real estate, construction, and infrastructure sectors in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The project will improve the building permits services through the new version of Benayat system, and aims to facilitate data exchange, expedite the verification process, save time and costs, and enhance the quality of infrastructure projects while minimizing risks and obstacles.

The committee discussed the digital transformation project at the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE), which aims to automate environmental license services for service facilities as well as industrial and infrastructure projects. It utilizes low-code development technologies with user-friendly interfaces, speeding up development, adapting to changes, and enhancing efficiency in meeting business requirements with less technical dependencies.  on technical teams or specialized programmers.

The committee addressed several projects, purchase requests, and government system developments that focus on improving IT services. The committee also reviewed progress in implementing the decisions approved during previous meetings.

The meeting was also attended by Committee Vice Chairman and iGA Deputy Chief Executive of Electronic Transformation, Dr. Zakareya Ahmed Al Khaja; iGA Deputy Chief Executive of Operations and Governance, Dr. Khalid Ahmed Almutawa; Ministry of Health Assistant Undersecretary of Public Health, Dr. Samia Ali Bahram; Ministry of Finance and National Economy Director of Financial Systems Development, Abdullah Ahmed Dhaif; Prime Minister’s Office Director of Services and Information Systems, Ahmed Abdulnabi Al Qayyim; University of Bahrain Dean of the College of IT, Dr. Hessa Jassim Al Junaid; and the Committee’s support team.
