iGA’s Equal Opportunities Committee Discusses Latest Developments at Q2 2022 Meeting

The Information & eGovernment Authority’s (iGA) Equal Opportunities Committee held its meeting for the second quarter (Q2) of the year to discuss recent developments. iGA Vice Chief Executive of eTransformation and Committee Chairman, Dr. Zakariya AlKhajah welcomed the members and praised their efforts in achieving the vision of the senior leadership and supporting the work of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) by implementing initiatives that empower female employees in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) field.
The meeting covered a number of items, including projects supporting women’s services such as updating the search engines on the National Portal, bahrain.bh to include family and women’s services, as well as updating details and legislations relating to women’s and family issues.
Also discussed was the iGA’s participation in the HRH Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Award for the Advancement of Bahraini Women for the second consecutive time. Dr. AlKhajah said that this award reflects the importance given by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the status of Bahraini women, and the efforts by the SCW, chaired by HRH Princess Sabeeka, to empower women in all areas. He highlighted the iGA’s commitment to the award and the role it plays in advancing women working in IT by incorporating their needs, achieving gender equality, and increasing their contributions to national development.
The Members also reviewed the Committee’s efforts to promoting a culture of gender equality at the iGA, including holding awareness lectures, and studied the action plan for 2022. The Committee reaffirmed the importance of launching further initiatives that empower the iGA’s female workforce by providing them with the most suitable working conditions, and continuously honing their skills through training courses and other programs.
