In line with the directives of His Excellency General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology (MCICT) to continue the efforts that maintain Bahrain’s rank in UN eGovernment Survey, the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) will host a specialized workshop on global eGovernment trends on 12th December 2024. Targeting government entities in Bahrain, the workshop will feature a presentation delivered by Mr. Vincenzo Aquaro, Chief of the Digital Government branch at UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), who oversees the UN E-Government Survey, and Angelica Zundel, Consultant, Digital Government Branch at UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA). This initiative supports Bahrain's preparation for the 2026 UN E-Government Development Index (EGDI), building on its current 18th global ranking in the 2024 report.

The workshop aims to enhance government entities' capabilities and performance with regards to global eService standards and portals’ development trends. Through comprehensive panel discussions and interactive workshops, participants will exchange knowledge on digital transformation processes and eGovernment advancement. The program will cover significant digital trends for governments, focusing on international best practices for improving user experience and service quality, and supporting Bahrain's position in the 2026 UN e-Government Report.

As part of Bahrain's commitment to knowledge sharing and successful eGovernment experiences, the iGA, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the workshop will also host representatives from regional countries who will attend the workshop. Several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) focusing on digital transformation expertise sharing will be signed with these countries to promote regional and international collaborations and showcase Bahrain’s digital success on the global stage.
