iGA Celebrates Gulf Statistics Day with Regional Counter Parts

Representing the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) participated in Gulf Statistics Day celebrations. The event was organized by the GCC Statistical Center (GCC-STAT) in Muscat under the patronage of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary General, His Excellency Jasem Mohamed Al Budaiwi, and attended by His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman. It brought together GCC statistical entities leaders and statisticians from member states.
The ceremony featured speeches by the GCC Secretary-General, emphasizing the role of statistics in decision-making, and the GCC-STAT Director General. Leaders of GCC national statistical centers shared notable success stories in the field.
iGA Deputy Chief Executive of Statistics and Population Registry, Duaa Sultan Mohammed highlighted Bahrain’s achievements in statistics and national initiatives. She congratulated statisticians and remarked the event’s role in fostering GCC statistical partnerships and acknowledging professionals' statistical contributions to national policy development and decision-making aligned with GCC leaders' visions.
She emphasized the strategic importance of GCC statistical systems in policymaking and sustainable development, praising the GCC-STAT and member entities for advancing the GCC statistics sector through collaborative efforts and the adoption of advanced technologies to enhance data collection, exchange, and utilization.
iGA Deputy CE highlighted Bahrain's digital initiatives backed by national statistics and databases, featuring the National Real Estate DataBank (Aqari), a comprehensive national system providing accurate property data to government, private sector, and investors. Developed by the iGA in collaboration with the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) and government entities, Aqari leverages accurate and updated data provided by the iGA, artificial intelligence technologies, and cloud services to enhance real estate investments, boost investor confidence, and boost Bahrain's economic.
The ceremony honored GCC statisticians for their dedication and excellence. Ebrahim Khalifa Mattar, Bahrain's Director of Statistics (1989-1999), was honored for pioneering the Kingdom’s statistical development and establishing national benchmarks for excellence.
Established by the GCC Ministerial Council during its 141st session on 24 November 2016, in Manama, Bahrain, Gulf Statistics Day underscores the significance of statistics in development, honors professionals, and promotes cooperation among GCC nations to advance the statistical ecosystem and achieve joint goals.
