The winning projects were selected from among a wide range of participants. In the Health and Wellbeing category, the BeAware Bahrain app, developed by the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), emerged as the winner while in the Government & Citizen Engagement category was won by, eTraffic App, which is provided to the public by the General Directorate of Traffic (GDT) through the
eGovernment Apps Store, bahrain.bh/apps. For the he Inclusion & Empowerment category, the Widows and Orphans eService, offered by the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF) through the National Portal,
bahrain.bh has been recognized as winner for this category. The Smart Settlements & Urbanization category was won by the Building Permit Portal (Benayat) offered by the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture. Lastly, the Environment & Green Energy category was awarded to the NetMetering Service of Electricity and Water Affairs (EWA).
iGA Chief Executive, Mohammed Ali Al Qaed expressed his thanks to the Bahrain Digital Content Award 2022 committee and congratulated all the winning government entities conveying his appreciation to them for their support and collaboration with the iGA. He expressed his appreciation for continued cooperation in the deployment of advanced technologies to improve services, develop government operations, and enhance the Kingdom’s information technology and communications sector.
Al Qaed reaffirmed the efforts of the iGA team which developed the BeAware Bahrain app, noting its significance as a national project that embraced innovation, artificial intelligence, and Big Data analytics. He said that it contributed to accelerating the pace of digital transformation during the pandemic and strengthened the Kingdom's ability to tackle challenges and achieve its economic recovery goals. He highlighted the recent updates introduced by the iGA through the app, such as the addition of a digital government documents and setting medical appointments. The app also included informative content, guidance, and the latest laws and regulations issued by relevant authorities aimed at countering the effects of the pandemic.
The Bahrain Digital Content Award was launched in 2005 with the primary objectives of encouraging digital creativity in the Kingdom and honoring outstanding public and private sector websites from Bahrain and across the Arab World, while adhering to international standards set by the World Summit Awards (WSA). The award aims to encourage Arab creativity, foster competition among individuals and public/private institutions, and promote the development of Arab websites, ultimately advancing information technology and communications for the development of societies.
