Shaikh Sabah bin Hamad Al Khalifa is one of the first to work in the population and statistics field in Bahrain. He currently holds the position of the Director of Identity & Population Registry Directorate. Shaikh Sabah has been responsible for several important achievements during a relatively short period of time, notably among these is helping the Directorate secure the Taqyeem Gold Category for three consecutive years.
Beginning his career with the Population Registry Office in 1993, he accumulated a wealth of experience which served him well when he later joined the Geographical Information Systems Directorate. In 2002, he founded a Media and Public Relations department, which he headed for 10 years. He was also a contributor to a range of events and initiatives, playing a major role in preparing the iGA for the Kingdom’s population registry and elections functions.
He represented the iGA at numerous meetings related to the Secretariat General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the General Secretariat of the Arab Interior Ministers Council (AIMC). He is also a prominent member of several national committees, as well as internal committees within the Authority. His contributions led to his appointment as Director of Population Registry and Addresses in 2015, a position he held until he was appointed to his current post.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Bahrain.
